The theater “teatro ángela peralta was built in the years 1869 till 1874 as an opera house and later on it was used as a cinema. In 1964 the operation discontinued and in 1975 it the hurricane “oilvia” hit it badly and gave it the rest. It collapsed completely and the city government wanted to tear it down. In the late 80s there was initative to save the theater, in 1990 it was declared as a national cultural monument and it reopened again in 1990.

The old town is pitoresk, many newly renovated buildings alternate with complete ruins and often the fresh painted facade is a pure scenery. Be sure to visit the covered market place.

triunfo / baja california sur

Triunfo was a city. But when the gold and silver mines were depleted in1926, the number of inhabitants decreased from 10,000 to now 380 people. A highlight in the village is the cafe triunfo and when you have an illustrious breakfast at the table on the outside wall of the former prison, please have a look behind you. The bullet holes in the wall derives from the shootings of the delinquents.

san josé del cabo

25 million year old flower, trapped in amber

The parntercity of Cabo San Lucas has a completely different flair, no cruise ships arrive here , there is no party mile for unleashed american youth, here the establishment goes shopping. Every thursday evening there is an art walk through the art district and frank arnold art & gallery is the lonesome lighthouse in the touristy shallow water area, who has no need to sell colorful skulls (yet best as ashtrays) (See next post: frank arnold art)

It is time to say julian le ballister a big thank you. He has cgiven us a great entree to los angeles. We know julian for abou 20 years – back then he had studied in frankfurt and worked as a model and we had often booked him for advertising shoots . since nearly 17 years he is back in the united states and now he lives in los angeles. Great to pick up a friendship seamlessly after all these years.

las vegas

Situated in the middle of the desert you feel no tranquillity. On my hit list of sites the world don´t need the “strip” of las vegas would be good for the first ranks. Peace seems to be perceived as a thread and so numerous speakers in front of the restaurants blats with the unmuffled engines and everything is combined with the noice of the slotmachines.

The scenery of venice, next to the eiffel tower and the pyramids, LED garlands planked pirate ships and disney kitsch: Well, you may like it, but I’ll let it stay.
