atwood european / phoenix

Mercedes and BMW and drivers of all european exotics in america should be aware: if you have a problem with your car in the phoenix area, then atwood european is the address to stay at. Andrew knows his stuff with the modern technology of vehicles, he not only has a super clean and well-organized workshop, he breathes Mercedes like none I have met  before. On weekends – in his leisure time, he restores a “tail fin” mercedes which looks now as if it had come straight from the factory and he regularly reports his knowledge and progress of the restoration in “The Star Magazine Mercedes-Benz Club of America”

“I never give up my friend” he said again and again, but he finally had to capitulate because a special cable, which was important for the software update for the engine was not built into our truck. And, because all his efforts were not crowned with the success he would have liked, he hadn´t charged anything !!! Andrew, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thanks also to the mercedes truck workshop in frankfurt where oliver kraus and martin lemmerz were conceded to solve my problems with the truck. Again: thank you, thank you, thank you.

fred tieken

Look at this video and it is hard to believe that fred is already 80 years. The former rock & roll musician and graphic designer paints only since 4 years and has just build a small -but super fine- gallery in his garden. It was a great experience catching up with fred and his wife gail and I look forward to co_work with him! © .n.g.

roswell

Ok, I admit it, yes. actually, I wanted to poke fun at the alien- and the ufo belief  about that incident which had happened in roswell back in 1947.

But then … in the afternoon … amazing, really amazing!

By the way, here is a link to the wikipedia page where the roswell incident from 1947 is portrayed.

HETDEX: Leading the Revolution

HETDEX will be the first major experiment to search for dark energy. It will use the giant Hobby-Eberly Telescope at McDonald Observatory and a set of spectrographs to map the three-dimensional positions of one million galaxies

 Hobby-Eberly Telescope [Martin Harris/McDonald Observatory]

A scientific revolution is underway. It will tell us more about the universe than we have ever known before, because it will tell us what makes up almost three-quarters of all the matter and energy in the universe. It will tell us if the laws of gravity are correct, and reveal new details about the Big Bang in which the universe was born.

The subject of this revolution is dark energy, a mysterious force that is causing the universe to expand faster as it ages. And one of the leaders in the revolution is HETDEX — the Hobby-Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment — at The University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory. Its observations will narrow the list of possible explanations for dark energy, and may even provide the final answer.

HETDEX will combine the immense light-gathering power of the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, the world’s third largest, with an array of new instruments for analyzing the light from distant galaxies.

scrapDaddy / houston

The way to the art car parade was a pain in the ass for the virtual star of the art car parade. A low-hanging branch over the road had demolished the steering wheel of his creation and made it uncontrollable. Here, however, the special service for my blog readers: scrapDaddy had set his machine in action especially for “your” video. Absolutely amazing what he has invented! He would had been the absolute favorite to win the award. Super sad and tragic for him, who has invested so much working hours, creativity, enthusiasm and passion.

ScrapDaddy please “keep on going”! © n.g.

Fabio D’Aroma was born in Pescara, Italy in 1973 and graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome in 1997, with his thesis studies concentrated on Caravaggio. Since 2001, he has been working primarily in the United States, mostly in New York although also spending periods in Chicago, Miami, and Houston. In 2008, he began to work on Retrocorionica, a project in which he scans and digitally assembles his similarly formatted oil paintings to create a frieze that combines historical techniques but could only be created with the use of technology. He has exhibited at galleries between the United States and Europe. Fabio is currently living and working in houston.

Next upcoming exhibition will be at the g-gallery / houston in may 2015.
