Solltet ihr mal nach tucson kommen, dann unbedingt das arizona-sonora desert museum besuchen ! eine beeindruckend schöne anlage mit einer einzigartiger mischung aus freiland zoo, botanischem wüsten garten und geologischer ausstellung. Sensationell !!!

This was a fantastic private gallery opening last night at Tieken Gallery in Paradise Valley. Beautiful space! Excellent food spread, fantastic art and artists, lots of fun, lively, dynamic people from all over the world. Nicht „salvation hill“ hatte leonard knight (*1931 – † 2014) sein werk genannt sondern ganz unbescheiden „salvation mountain“. Im trocken, heißen klima californiens musste ihn die erleuchtung von höchster stelle getroffen haben. „bible“, „jesus loves you“, „god! ist mit riesigen letter über all zu lesen. Lehm, vermischt mit stroh, hatte er tonnenweise auf den hügel gekleistert und bund angemalt, zwei wasserfälle mit blumen und eben die schriftzüge „god is love“ und „say jesus i´m a sinner, please come upon my body and into my heart“. Tja, und der hügel des outsider künstlers kneight hat´s geschafft 2002 zum nationalen kulturgut der usa zu werden.

verständlich, dass phil sich ein pseudonym für´s internet zulegte, denn würden sich einladungen zu solch einem tollen dinner rumsprechen, er hätte jeden abend seine terasse voller gäste. Phil ist member der OneDayOnePhoto-gruppe, die unser freund frank lange aus essen / deutschland vor einigen jahren initiiert hat und der wir schon einige super tolle treffen und einladungen zu verdanken haben. wir erzählten von unserern reiseerfahrungen und all den bereichernden begegnungen und phil meinte, das wären unsere „travel pearls“. überhaupt hat er einen tollen humor und bettina erfreute sich an seinem spruch „it´s always great, until it´s not“

Tieken Gallery Presents Co_Works: A Transatlantic Venture with Guest Curator, Norbert Guthier
Imagine you could travel the world, stopping wherever you wish to meet your favorite artists and to visit with them in their studios, spending a day or two watching them at work.
For Norbert Guthier of Germany, this is not a dream but a reality that he has been living for the last several years. Not only has Guthier been visiting artists throughout the Americas, he has created a book, Co_Works, that combines photographs by Guthier with original artwork from the artists inspired by these photos.
Living the ultimate curator’s dream, Guthier is now working on a series of shows featuring these Co_Works with the premier American showing at Tieken Gallery opening February 27, 2016.
Featured in the show will be artists Emilio Martinez, Miami, FL; Matt Sesow, Washington, DC; Heather Wilcoxon, San Francisco, CA; Matthias Bolz, Dresden, Germany; Barbara Fisher, Asheville, NC; Brad Moody, Houston, TX; and Fred Tieken, Paradise Valley, AZ & Venice Beach, CA; with photography by Norbert Guthier, Frankfurt, Germany.
The opening reception on February 27 will be by RSVP. An event page will be posted on the Facebook Tieken Gallery page in mid February so please sign up early. We are expecting a full-to-capacity opening and you must be on the guest list to attend this event.
